A New Sound and Light Show

Jeff Burzacott March 13, 2015

“You have come tonight to the most fabulous and celebrated place in the world. Here on the plateau of Giza, stands forever the mightiest of human achievements."

These are the opening words to the spectacle that has been entertaining visitors each and every evening for the past 30 years: the Pyramids Sound and Light Show.

Booming voices, eerie music, carefully choreographed lighting effects and lasers are used to give visitors an insight into the ancient world of the pharaohs – all narrated by the Great Sphinx.

The coloured lighting is stunning and the show has served Giza tourists well over the years, however today the narration is starting to sound a little cheesy and the booming music, melodramatic.

It’s time for an upgrade.

A multi-million dollar deal has recently been struck with a French company to develop a fresh, up-to-date Sound and Light Show for the Giza Pyramids.  Considering the advances in technology over the past three decades, hopefully the new show will bring back the ‘ooos’ and ‘aahhs’ back to the nightly feature.

We’ll let you know when the new display launches.
