This festive image, featuring a desert hare (and some tasty Eastery treats), is adapted from a photo taken by Karen Green at the Temple of Horus at Edfu
The temple was built on the site of the mythical battle between Horus and his murderous uncle, Seth. Horus avenged his father, Osiris, by triumphing over Seth and inheriting his father’s throne on Earth, whilst Osiris reigned over the land of the dead.
Today, Edfu is the most complete and best-preserved of all the temples of Egypt, largely due to it being so relatively new—begun by Ptolemy III in 237 BC.
