It's true. Millions of people from around the world have succumbed to the allure of the Great Pyramids and Sphinx of Giza - a magical site that conjures sentiments of a romantic past.
These great moments are in fact as much a testament to the great minds and engineering mastery of the ancient Egyptians as to the mystical fervour that inspired them.
This photo by B. Anthony Stewart was taken in 1938, just four years after French Egyptologist Emile Baraize finally freed the Sphinx from the Sahara sand that had engulfed it for two millennia.
